We all know the spiritual importance of Makkah as the Holiest City of Islam and the most sacred place on the earth. However, very few people pay heed to the    scientific  study of this Holy Land. This article delves into the geological study of Makkah al-Mukarramh and the surrounding areas. The  valley of Makkah  lies within the greater geological structure known as the   Arabian Shield , a vast region of ancient, crystalline rocks that form the foundation of much of western Arabia.
